Endless Girls after John Van Hamersveld's (and Bruce Brown's) Endless Summer poster.
This image is obviously one of the most recognized, ever. And for good reason. And it's been done with girls before. I painted the textured background separately from the silhouettes (which are acrylics on canvas) because I thought I'd mess around with inks on newsprint for the background. But I ended up painting the background separately and combining them digitally. |

Be Bop after John Severson
Surf Bebop by John Severson is on my top 3 list of favorite surf images. I wanted to try working in his style to push myself out of the swirly blobs I was working in. Enter the palette knife; I had never worked with one before and it has completely opened my world up to new textures and ideas. |

Diamondhead after Stewart Fern
I LOVE Stewart Fern's Outrigger and Diamondhead. The style and palette are very different from my own. Also, the light is very dramatic. My perspective tends to be goofier, so I tried to brood while working with these colors. I'm not sure what the original dimensions are, I painted it at 20x16 in acrylics. |

After Rick Griffin
This is from a Surfer Magazine cover. I did it with pen and ink, which opened another whole new world up to me. |

After Phil Dike
Another style that pushed me past what I knew how to do. This is still a work in progress. |
